Tune in Now!

Registration is Open!

Registration is required and there is no fee to attend Family Weekend. One member of your family will be the primary registrant and will add your Dartmouth student and other family members as guests.

Advance registration by Friday, September 22nd will allow for a quicker check-in. After that date, you can still register online but you will need to go the walk-in table with your online registration and may experience a longer wait to receive your nametags and materials. We look forward to welcoming you to Family Weekend 2023!

Dartmouth ’24 and ’27 parents and families:

Mark your calendars for Family Weekend!

First-year and graduating senior students and families are invited to campus for this special weekend featuring tours, faculty lectures, social activities, information sessions, a family cookout, and athletic events.

It's a good idea to make hotel reservations sooner, rather than later, since Fall is a busy time in the Upper Valley. Check out the area accommodations section below for lodging options.

Donate Food and Personal Care Items for Upper Valley Families in Need

Drop off your donated, non-perishable food and personal care items at the Family Weekend Check-in tables. The items will be donated to the Upper Valley Haven in White River Junction, which has been providing food relief and temporary shelter and educational programming for home-insecure and at-risk families and adults since 1980.

Food items needed: canned chicken/tuna, peanut butter, oatmeal, pasta and pasta sauce, canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, soups or broths, and rice.

Personal care items needed: deodorant (men’s/women’s), shampoo, bar soap, diapers (sizes 5 and 6) and Pull-ups (sizes 3T-4T.)

Suggestions for Attire

Don’t forget to wear Dartmouth green to show your Dartmouth pride!

New England weather can be unpredictable this time of year, so be sure to check the weather forecast—function (including comfortable shoes) and not fashion is the key...and layers are always a wise choice.

Athletic Events and Saturday Soccer Discounted Tickets

Discounted tickets to Saturday afternoon’s 3 p.m. women’s soccer game vs. Cornell and Saturday evening’s 7 p.m. men’s soccer game against Penn are available for attendees of this special weekend. Seating is General Admission and can be purchased at the discounted price of $5. Please note that tickets are required for each game should you want to attend both matches. Also, the discounted tickets can only be purchased online using the purchase page links below.

Visit the women’s soccer purchase page and the men’s soccer purchase page with the Family Weekend ‘23 code already activated to purchase your tickets. Current Dartmouth students have free entry to the game by showing their Dartmouth ID. Your purchased tickets can be mailed, left at will call, or emailed depending on your preferred delivery method. Emailed tickets will be sent to you in the form of an e-ticket no later than 2 weeks before the first game of the season.

Area Dining and the Upper Valley Business Alliance

We planned the weekend with Friday and Saturday night dinners as free time so that you can enjoy time with your student and other families. We suggest you make dinner reservations for both evenings as soon as possible.

The Upper Valley Business Alliance is a great resource to start with to help with your dinner reservations in the Upper Valley.

Also, the Class of 1953 Commons (aka FOCO) is open for dinner Friday and Saturday night from 4:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. for families. Students on a meal plan can use their guest passes, or parents can pay at the door for all-you-care to eat. Families are also welcome to enjoy the dining hall for breakfast and lunch.

Things to Do and Places to Eat

Whether you're exploring the campus, Hanover, or the entire Upper Valley this weekend, we've got your guide for where to go and what to eat. From Big Green athletics, hiking, apple picking, curling up with a book and a coffee, or enjoying a cruller at Lou's Bakery, there's something for the whole family on campus and beyond.

Area Accommodations

Fall in the Upper Valley is a busy time for visitors, so we encourage you to make a hotel reservation as soon as possible. There are no hotel blocks on hold for families for this special weekend. You may want to look for availability within an hour or so of Hanover in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Don’t forget to also check out airbnb, Vrbo, Quechee Lakes rentals, Eastman Lake rentals, Hanover Hostel, and bed-and-breakfasts in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, owned by Dartmouth, has blocked off some of their hostel-style rustic mountain accommodations for parents and families attending Family Weekend. The new Lodge was completed in the fall of 2017 and is about an hour from Hanover. Discounted rates are available for those for whom regular prices are cost prohibitive.  Reservations are required. Please call (603) 764-5858 between 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET Wednesday – Monday with questions and to make your reservation.  Hearty breakfasts and family-style dinners are also offered at the Lodge – reservations required.  See more here.
