Meet the Student Photographers from the 2024 DCF Calendar!

The 2024 Dartmouth College Fund calendar features photos from the winners of our second annual DCF student photography competition. We know for some people that it has been a long time since you have been able to visit campus, and we wanted to show the College from the perspectives of our undergraduate students. Enjoy reading more about the student photographers and the inspiration behind each image in the excerpts below that were edited by Chase Bailey ’25.

Abdul’s photography journey was catalyzed by one of his best friends from high school. Abdul admired his friends ability to capture and express emotion through such a unique medium and was inspired to pick up the camera himself.

This image of Baker Tower from Tuck Drive is something very personally important for Abdul. Tuck Drive serves as the bridge between many of the most important parts of his college life, connecting the Library, the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Computer Sciences building.

Garner fell into photography casually after taking a class in high school. Since then, he has continued the hobby, snapping beautiful pictures like this one of his surroundings on his phone.

Garner is an academic first, and spent much of his freshman year studying and working hard in Fairchild. During these times, the sunset often served as his cue to take a break and get dinner to relax for a little bit. On one such occasion, he captured this beautiful view of Baker Tower at sunset.

Perez_Jeanmarcos24_Profile_Circle

Name: Jeanmarcos Perez ’24
Pronouns: he/him
Major: Computer Science modified with Digital Arts and minor in Hispanic Studies
Photo: April

Jeanmarcos has been a lifelong casual photographer, but under the tutelage of Professor Cristina Seely, the hobby turned into a passion. He learned so much about the intentionality of photography and even how to develop photos.

His education in photography shines in this photo of the library. The story behind it is a funny one! Jeanmarcos admits he is not a library frequenter as most Dartmouth students are, so one day a member of the class of ‘26 showed him around. On the unexpected tour, the beauty of the library spoke to him.

Name: Noemi Mesropian ’26
Pronouns: she/hers
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Photo: May

Noemi has been surrounded by photography for as long as she can remember. Her father is a photographer, and she grew up mesmerized by him and his friends’ amazing skill for capturing beautiful scenes.

Noemi maintains that much of photography is being in the right place at the right time, and this certainly rings true for this photo. Noemi was late to class because of this particular moment, but I think we can all agree that the stunning double rainbow was worth it!

Katelyn’s two wonderful photos in the calendar reflect this passion. Moosilauke Lodge and Berry Library are both pivotal places at Dartmouth, being two of the first places that welcome incoming students.

Freshman fall presented Jamie with plenty of opportunities to take some wonderful scenic images on his trek to and from the McLaughlin cluster. This photo of the beautiful foliage was a moment of reprieve from the frenzy of freshman year.
